Saving our Marine Life - CONSERVATION (scroll down for more)

    People ask me why I use a shark on my business cards.  The intent is not to adopt an old lawyer cliché, but rather to bring awareness to a species that needs our help (Scroll down to see some real beauties!)  The inclusion of a shark logo is a small way to help bring awareness to marine conservation.  

     I am an avid diver, a huge conservationist and a major fan of Marine life, in particular, Sharks!    I love spending time in the Ocean, promoting conservation efforts and bringing awareness to their place in this world and their need for our protection.    

     Each year over 100,000,000 sharks are killed by man alone.  In comparison, there are approximately 80 shark bites worldwide that require medical attention.  Of those 80 bites, many occur in the process of spear fishing, which present a danger to that individual that are generally very well known, as the actions of the speared fish attract sharks for a free meal.   Taken in context, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that on average 800,000 yearly dog bites in the United States alone require medical attention.   Sharks have long carried an unearned and inappropriate designation as a "man eater", largely in part to the movie Jaws.   That designation couldn't be further from the truth, and it is actually the shark who needs protection from us, the human race.  Coupled with the fact that sharks are an essential and required presence in the marine ecosystem, both humans and the entire ocean population depend on them for survival.

     I am the photographer for each of the photographs below.  Those pictured include Great Whites, Bull Sharks, Tigers, Makos, Blues, Silkies, Galapagos, Blacktips, Whitetips, multiple types of reef sharks and multiple species of Hammerheads as well as many others.   I hope that this page brings a continued or new-found interest to you for our ocean dwelling neighbors.  I encourage you to donate and volunteer to help preserve our oceans, sharks, and any other wildlife/ ecosystem that may have your interest.   The Ocean is in danger, and it needs our help.
